Minister Pat Rabbitte and his senior officials met with Eamon Stack, CEO and Sylvester Murphy Deputy CEO at his office recently.
The minister heard about both ENCLUDE's Technology Donation's programme and its Technology Solutions programme for the charity sector. The Minister offered to "help if he
could" to sign post and encourage State funded charities to apply through ENCLUDE's Technology Donations programme - ENCLUDEit.org - for technology donations from major donors like Microsoft, Cisco and Symantec.
Savings of €20m to the sector via the ENCLUDEit technology donations programme in the next three years could well be used to offset some of the financial cutbacks being experienced.
The Minister said that ENCLUDE's strategy to expand its Technology Solutions programme was an "exciting prospect". Mr Rabbitte was particularly interested in the Client Management and Reporting solutions for Addiction Services organisations and Drugs Task Forces. Mr Rabbitte, in his previous Ministerial term, had been the key driver behind the establishment of the Drugs Task Forces.
The Knowledge Society section is located in the Mr. Rabbitte's department and carries responsibility to develop and deliver on the Government's Digital Inclusion policy. The Minister agreed to continue the engagement between the Knowledge Society officials and ENCLUDE to deliver a coherent strategy to narrow the Digital Gap.
